The second half saw Newbury take control of the game. Sophie was unlucky not to open the scoring after a one two with Ruby who was on the right wing and when she received the ball at the near post she was unlucky to see her shot go just to the wrong side of the post. Lucy Mortimer was winning lots of ball in midfield and 5 minutes into the half beat 4 Berg players then saw her shot saved by the keeper to conceed a corner that again came to nothing. Ruby again beat the defender on the right to cross for Sophie who again shot wide of the post. It now was only a matter of time before Newbury scored. Finally Ruby opened the scoring from a cross from the right by Lucy. The keeper saved her first attempt but was unable to stop the second shot after the rebound from the keeper. Chelsea Allen almost got the second after passing to Ruby on the right and shooting just wide from the return pass. Lucy then broke down the left and after a good solo run scored the second shooting from a tight angle. With minutes to go Kellie Payne passed the ball to Lucy who squared to Sophie who made no mistake with a simple tap in to round off an excellent performance and clinch Newbury girls first cup trophy in front of a good sized crowd.
