There was a warning for Newbury however, just prior to half time, when some sloppy defending allowed Caversham back into the game and they scored to make it 3-1 at the break, in Newbury’s favour still.

Within minutes of the re-start, Caversham scored again to make it 3-2 and the visitors could easily have been rocking. Newbury settled though and looked to get their passing game going again. They forced another corner that saw a bullet Maria Rodrigues header make it 4-2 after 56 minutes. With a two goal cushion restored, Newbury were more in control for large parts of the second half and the stuffing appeared to have been knocked out of their hosts. Newbury wrapped up the scoring in the 80th minute, after an excellent short corner routine saw Beesley convert well to give her side a 5-2 lead.

The only disappointing note for Newbury, was when forward, Bec Walker, then collected two yellow cards within two minutes to see her dismissed from the field of play. Newbury saw the match out with their ten players and there was no further incidents or drama. They were pleased to have scored five goals away from home and the victory puts Newbury on 19 points for the season so far.
